  9  SA    Lewis Stakes (GIII) [KYD]

To the left coast and a group of TC hopefuls are set to go a flat mile in the Lewis Stakes (GIII), a main track event that The Card and I actually agree on.  I’m headed to the outside post and will give Iron Mike a chance for the knockout, today.  He’s been solid in every start, and just missed over this track last out, a runner-up effort in the San Vincent (GII), where he actually had the lead in the lane.  He has tactical speed and should use that to his advantage today.  My second choice is The Cards top pick, Maymun, fresh off of a closing third in the LA Futurity (GII).  He had a couple of rough starts, both vs. GI types, but won the Best Pal (GIII) at DMR, so he has class and ability… can he put his best foot forward today?  A large field can cause all types of issues, so let’s see how this one plays out.
