Well, that is what the official form will report but the visuals looked very different with this winner looking much better than a length and the last horse looking a lot further than two lengths back. I am not sure how the recording of margins is processed but whilst it was a very close race for second, it didn’t look like the noses and heads that were officially recorded.
So, whilst there was a nine-horse photo finish for the minor checks this winner was as clear cut as you get these days. Getting the perfect stalk on the rail he extended nicely and coasted to the line. The clue to this performance came in his 1.10 and 3 work and his big effort in the Myrtlewood last time and he certainly looks better than he did when changing hands twice through maiden claimers.

A little worse than he was in the Myrtlewood against the winner that can be put down to his wider draw and he once again showed his biggest asset which is consistency. This was his fourth stakes placing in a row and sooner or later he must get one of these.

Stalked from a wide draw which seems to be the kiss of death on this engine. He kept on well enough to suggest that when he gets a favorable draw, he will win a decent race.
