7 KEE Spinster (GI) [BC]
$400.000 3yo&Up F&M 1 1/8m Dirt 3yo 121lbs Older 124lbs
The Most Beautiful Place On Earth… and we get a serious group of ladies headed to the gate for the Spinster (GI), and this is a race where anyone could win and you probably wouldn’t even shake your head… but we can’t be wishy-washy about selections and I’ve landed on Bite The Bullet in this one. The 3yo has a win over this track, taking the Ashland (GI), and I’m a big believer in horses-for-courses. She ran big last out, just missing in the Pines Stake (GIII) and that’s enough for me. I’ll put Scarlet And Gray in the second spot as I really liked that last out win in the Shuvee (GIII) where she closed fast late and really seems to be coming into her own right now. There are a ton of others you could give a shot to… some big money horses in here that just can’t be ignored, and it should be a heck of a race.
Here’s The Field –
Failed as the odds-on favorite in the Pitcher (GIII) at MTH in her most recent effort. Won the Santa Maria (GII) at SA prior to that but she will throw the occasional off race. Only four starts this season, and I’m sure they are looking for her to bounce back in a big way here.
Two wins from only five 2020 starts and she looked good taking the Princess Rooney (GII) at GP last out. She’s been pretty consistent all season long and she likes to run big into the fall when the big money is on the line. I think she will make a lot of noise here today.
She won the Ashland (GI) over this track on her way to taking the KY Oaks (GI) but she hasn’t been able to find the winner’s circle in her last three starts. That was a solid runner-up effort in the Pines Stake (GIII) at DMR last out, so look for her to be ready to run big again in this one.
Has proven to be a nice purchase out of the Mar Auction with a second i the Santa Maria (GII) and a win in the Fleur De Lis Hcp (GII) at CD. She’s already qualified for BC Day, but I’m sure they’d love another feather in her cap, headed into the big day.
Her only 2020 score came in the Phippis (GI) at BEL, but she has a second and a third, both vs. GI horses to go with that win. She was fifth in the Personal Ensign (GI) last out, but I think she will improve today and should be in the thick of it.
She has three wins this season but her biggest was last out taking the Shuvee (GIII) at The Spa where she came from the clouds to get home first. Is that closing thing her new way, because it sure did look good in that race.
Two wins and a third this year and was looking solid in every race until… that last out twelfth in the Woodward (GI) where I think we all learned that she has no business running with the boys. How much did that take out of her?
Spring was a good time for this one, but her last three starts have been lack-luster at best. She won the Black Eyed Susan (GII) only to run fifth, eighth and seventh since then. Can she turn it around here?
Given a big of time off after winning the DEL Hcp (GII) in a DH where she was once again showing her speed in that one. She does her best running up towards the front so look for her to head that way here today as well.
Purchased from the Jun Auction and she turned the first start for the new connections into a laugher, going wire-to-wire in a big way at SAR facing Alw horses. Don’t be fooled, she’s been close in a few big-purse stakes races so she fits.
