Look for a Sweep in Doubledogdare Stakes

Doubledogdare Stakes – Grade III

Graded Stake
Purse $100.000  For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward.

1 Technology Sweep, trained by The Sidley Stud
Took full advantage of the weight pull that seemed to make last seasons three year olds superior by winning the Pitcher Stakes and ending up an excellent third in the Personal Ensign as well as a season ending grade two win in the Chilukki. She hasnt fired yet this year finishing third in an overnight and then fourth in the Azeri last time but still has enough ability to get back to winning ways in this race.

2 Sweep The Ash, trained by Eastern Equine
A great third in the BC Distaff as a three year old was followed by a winless year as a four year old. That wasnt unusual though as the four year olds struggled last year. Turning five saw her win her first race since December 2015 as she romped home with the La Canada Stakes but then a wide draw killed her chances in the Azeri last time out when she ended up running to the HRP script to weaken into sixth. ignoring that last start she has a lively chance today.

3 Zipster, trained by Blushing Meadows
Untested at this level she has won five from ten at overnight level. Her last two wins have been impressive but this is a massive step up in class, (not that that seems to matter at HRP). She has a hope but i am not sold on her winning chance.

4 Eviction, trained by Nakamura Stables
This five year old was bought from Mb Stables at the end of last year and has proved pretty consistent in her three starts for the new stable. Probably her best run was last time out in the Santa Maria Stakes where she kept on well to be second. I am not sure she is a world beater but she is an honest sort in this grade and will give a good account of herself.

5 Princess Legion, trained by John Henry
Another consistent sort she has some of the best work times in the field and has good enough form to make her a strong choice. second in her last two starts she ran very well in the Chiluki to be beaten just a head into third and is very close to Sweep The Ash and Technology Sweep on that form.

6 Zedge, trained by Mb Stables
Has won six from ten but has run her best races below this level. Winning form is good form though and she hails from a stable that has the midas touch as far as fillies go this year so will be well supported for the win.

7 Iron Bay, trained by Brave
A nice enough sort but a wide draw and only fair form it may be too much to expect a win today.

SUMMARY
This looks to be between the two Sweeps, Technology Sweep and Sweep The Ash. Form lines put Princess Legion within a head of these two so that will be my boxed trifecta for this race.
