The Withers 1 1/8 on Dirt Grade 3
Purse $200.000 For Three Year Olds.
A bettor’s delight here in the Withers on Saturday as there are many angles to explore. Let’s see if the Trackman can guide you accurately to the main contingent of the race. Self Love from Mb Stables is a small guy at only 15.2 hands, but he also has never been out of the trifecta in seven lifetime runs. “Love” also has some gas and should be able to make good use of his inside draw. Win or lose, “Love” has earned the right to be considered the horse to beat here. Political Star from Big Guns Stables ran his best race in his last start and it is no small matter that it was over this surface. The added real estate is a little questionable, but with the perfect post draw I will take the gamble. Concession Speech from Noblepark could be the 3-year-old claim of the year with a victory here. Taken for a mere $10.000 he ran a monster in his last making up six lengths late to hit the third spot in the trifecta at a big price. Any improvement with the additional real estate and he is a major threat, just don’t expect that price again. Cherish Lune from Mo Mentum Farm is unknown around two turns, but has a big number posted in his last sprint. Check the tote for more clues.
Of the rest:
Firing Squad from TwinTowersRacing got crushed at the draw for this race and ends up in the parking lot. This colt ran big going two turns for the first time, albeit in the mud. He is game and stranger things have happened. You have been warned.
Suffering Fools from Alydar Stables has a ton of natural speed and just laughed at first level allowance foes at the Fair Grounds. This California Bred might throw a wrench into the proceedings.
Minnesota Heat from The Sidley Stud has kept good company but has nothing showing that would indicate a win is in the cards. The drop should yield a better finish here. Conflicting info.
Byte City from DJC Racing Stables might be too low in the handicapping here. The lightly raced gelding ran huge off the claim going two turns but will still need a hot pace in front of him and numbers improvement to share in the spoils. Guessing game at an expected price.
Excavate from Acber Farms looks to have the right style for this race, but his run in the muddy conditions will need big numbers improvement to play ball here. Other runners just look more appealing.
Lions Grandeur from Red Fox Farms is two for two going two turns on the dirt, that’s the good news. The bad news is that he also has speed inside and outside of him and looks in deep waters here.
Izzys Brindle also from The Sidley Stud looks to possibly be the recipient of a decent trip here. He is small in stature but has shown determination and an improving pattern. Distance is a possible concern. Glass half full or half empty is the question.
Wealthy B Wonka also from Mb Stables should handle the added ground but didn’t have much resistance the first time out of the State Bred ranks. Also looks like he will be sent from the outside. Demand a price if you believe.
