Love Of The People was an authoritative winner of Saturday’s G2 Mabee Stakes for fillies and mares at DMR. Racing on the firm turf, Love Of The People garnered her first graded stake’s victory in a sharp 1:45.97. The Mb Stables-trainee improved to 8-5-1-1 for her career with $423.760 in earnings.
1st: #6 Love Of The People (Mb Stables/G. Corrales 120):Found the rail while racing in midpack early on, but only had one horse beat entering the first turn. Began her forward march entering the second bend as she moved from 7th to 4th. Inhaled the competitors in front of her in upper stretch and moved away as a decisive winner.
2nd: #3 Coconut Milk (Wood Duck Stables/J.S. Rocco Jr 120): Stalked the pace from the two-path. Commenced her rally around the three-eighths pole facing a three-length deficit. Had to rally from the four path and couldn’t match strides with the winner.
3rd: #1 Command All (TwinTowersRacing/Ru. Gonzalez 120): Tracked the pace-setter from the rail. Couldn’t move with the same authority as the top two, but ran on to just get the show.
4th: #2 Bagel Bites (Gdp Inc/M. Murrill 124): Sent to the front at the start. Set a solid pace before tiring in the final furlong. Lost the show in final strides.
