3 AQU The Notebook
$100.000 2yo Foaled in NY 6f Dirt 120lbs +penalties
Sunday looks like a Funday at AQU as the NY-bred youngsters are at it and we look at The Notebook for the boys. I’m taking Proxy as the top choice since he’s the only horse that shows an on-the-board finish vs stakes horses. Let’s look for some value and take The Greek in the second spot. I like that he broke maiden on a wet track and was close up in his debut on a dry surface, plus he has tactical speed. I’m poor at pickin’ these youngsters so proceed at your own risk and let’s hope for a good one.
Here’s The Field –

Broke maiden at FL then came back to run fourth vs. similar over the same surface. He set the early pace in that one only to tire when the money was on the line, so he needs to break that habit in a quick manner. I’m thinking it was more instructions/ride, so give him a big chance to bounce back in this one.

Broke maiden in his second trip to the gate down at LAD then took a third and a win over in Ohio, both of those at BTP. His only bad race was vs. NY-bred, but that was his initial start and we all know how that can go. Since then it’s two wins and a third so don’t ignore him.

Really not a single bad race out of this one and since the vet stopped by he ran second at SAR in open MSW, broke maiden at MTH then ran third vs NY-bred stakes horse at FL. Still, he’s the only one of these that has hit the board vs stakes company and that may be enough here.

He’s certainly named to win and did get the job done at FL last out taking down NY-bred MSW types, drawing away to win by two in the end. He’s been on the board in three other maiden starts, so this is a step up. The public usually bets him…

Got the maiden win last out taking down NY-bred MSW types at SAR. That was on the grass and they move him back to the main track looking to step up and get a big win. He’s shown good speed in all starts, so the front end seems to be his plan. Let’s see how that works.

Came from near the back of the pack in a big rush to get the win at FL and he looked good doing it. Went clear by two in his third start and they must think they found something since they had him in for a tag before getting that first win. Should be interesting to see how this one goes today.

The Greek | Arindel | Davis D | 120 | 7/1 |
Got the job done at BEL last out taking down NY-bred MSW and he’s another that has displayed good speed in both starts. He should be out towards the front end of this one as well, unless they make a drastic change in instructions today. He looks like the type that will be in the mix.
