Maiden Steals the Brides Day at GP

The Herecomesthebride Stakes – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Turf Stake Purse $150.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.

1st Dragonville, trained by Drabfantasy
It was only a matter of time before this filly broke her maiden and today she
did it not only in a graded stakes but by an impressibe three quarters of a length.
Closer than she has been in her last two thanks to a very moderate pace she held
all the aces in the run for home and won well. There is no doubt this is a very good
filly and one I have admired since her debut but the unpreditability of racing here at
HRP stops me from bringing out the superlatives just yet.

2nd Viking Amy, trained by Delta Farms
This super consistent filly once again ran her heart out ending up a great second
and contueing her wonderful record. Still learning this was another step and with the
score at one each between her and the winner its still all to play for down the line.

3rd Taking Liberties, trained by GDp Inc
Another who had beaten the winner last time out she got a long way back before running
on strongly for third only beaten a length. The slower pace suited the horses closer to the
front so this was a good effort from another inexperienced filly.

4th Shekinah, trained by Blushing Meadows
Kept on well enough for fourth but never looked  a serious threat for the win.

5th Tennessee Titan
Up there for much of the race she was a little outclassed in the end.

6th Smart Babe
Stalked early and fell away at the end which was strange considering the fairly sedate
early pace.

7th Bake The Donut
I have never seen this horse lead before but the wide speed push can do strange things
to a horse. I wasnt too worried though as the Sweetest Chant winner got away with very cheap
sectionals and i was thinking she would be very hard to catch when she put the hammer down. Today
however was a day when the leaders faded whatever happened and sure enough she faded rather tamely
at the end.

8th Cartoon Figure
Ran a strange race and never got in it.

SUMMARY

Races like these make you think that stables that scratch from outside posts are actually making
a very good choice. The first three home are all good tough filly’s but the poor run from the wide
gates put the whole form of this race into the too hard pile.
