The marathon handicap types will be headed to the gate on Saturday evening as we look at the field for the Connally BC Turf (GIII), a mile and a half trek and it looks like the door is wide open to me.  I landed on Derby G as the lukewarm favorite, more as he’s proven to like the distance than anything.  He just missed in the Precious Passion at MTH, and he closed out the year with a runner-up effort vs. Alw types… I know, he didn’t win a race last year, has a single win to his credit… there are some holes, but sometimes you just gotta roll the dice.  Let’s key him with Dreams Of Men and Buffalo G, in the exacta/tri.  Dreams Of Men always brings home a check for that outfit, and his class could be the key to him getting his picture taken.  He has been a beaten favorite in four of his last five starts… thus my hesitation.  Buffalo G had some big wins in the ’22 season, but he closed out the year with a couple of duds, and again, my hesitation.  It looks like an interesting race, so let’s see how it goes.
