The BEL Gold Cup
1 1/2 Mile Turf Stake Purse $300.00 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st March Madness, trained by la Rosa Stables
Fell naturally into the trail from the wide gate but on a day when the wide
draws werent so inconvenienced it proved to be the winning tactic as the old
warrior came from behind for a last gasp head win. He doesnt win that often
but when he does he certainly wins good ones and this was one of the best of
his career. This old fella is going to be around for a while yet.
2nd Five Daddy Darling, trained by Night Rider Stables
This was a career best effort from the six year old as the veterans mopped
up in this race. Running a loose stalk he kept finding extra all the way
to the line and only got beaten in the shadows of the post.
3rd Mean Street, trained by nakamura Stables
Won the Elkhorn over this trip in a faster time but as always seems the case
these days horses rarely run two races the same and despite a valiant effort
he couldnt hold off the challengers. Close up throughout he was only beaten
a half length in the end and i am pretty sure on another day he would turn
the tables on his victors.
4th Cryptic Choice, trained by Mb Stables
No match for the first three he kept on at one pace for fourth.
5th Sweet Son
Burned away from the outside gate but couldnt keep up the gallop and ended
up a tired fifth.
6th Royal Integrity
With a second poor effort in a row we may not be seeing this grand eight year
old winning in this grade again.
7th Vegas Viper
No show
8th Make A Decision
outclassed as expected and finished a long way behind.
