The Tapeta was as green as the grass on the turf course, the run into the first turn was set at 0-feet and you had a 15-min windows to get your pickem selections in… other than that, not much was different for the Fountain Of Youth Stakes, a mile and a sixteenth test for the sophomore TC types. Despite all of that, who nailed the ex/tri – that’s right, your ol’ buddy COZ, not that it was that difficult with the Big Barn, Mb Stables taking the win as Extreme Jet stayed close to the pace , moved up when asked and got home clear by a length, stopping the timer at 1:41.40 on the Fast GP main track, and taking a big step towards Louisville. This was his third start after changing hands, and he’s won a pair of GII races since that move, and certainly is opening eyes for those watching the big horses headed to the KYD. Congrats to the connections!

Tropical Surge ran a big race to be the runner up, setting the pace to deep stretch before giving way to the eventual winner. This one lives and dies with the speed, same here today, and certainly nothing to be ashamed of in a second place finish. Three wins and two runner-up efforts from five starts, yeah, I’d keep an eye on this rascal.

Point Given is another that changed hands two races back and has two solid starts since changing silks, another length-back, on-the-board start and he ran a very solid, yet even race today. It was different to see him closer to the pace, and I’m not sure that was in his best interest. Time will answer that style question.

Medvedev was running big late, closing a gap down the lane to grab the minor share, and considering he’s been in the 11 and 12 gates in his last two starts, this is a horse that I’d keep an eye on as a better post could set him up for a big big effort in the near futre. He will be on my watch list, for sure. Six lengths covered the file of twelve.
