We don't often get graded races on a Wednesday, but we all know that summers in up-state NY are special... speaking of special, Mb Stable's Precise Performance is pretty special as well.  Pressing the issue throughout The Honorable Miss Hcp (GII), she moved past pace-setter Grayte Catch to go under the wire in front by a length in a final time of 1:08.63.  The SAR main track was listed as Fast, and she certainly was as the final time was just a few ticks off of Fast N Ahalf's stakes record (1:08.54).  Terra Command was never far back and improved position down the lane to take the second spot, a length in front of the hard closing Unprecedented, then a quarter length back to the aforementioned Grayte Catch, tiring to be fourth. 

The field of six loaded quickly, the flag was up and away in good order with Grayte Catch being sent from the gate to take the early lead, Precise Performance on the outside of Terra Command, Tamalpais from the rail, Super Hot on the outside and Unprecedented between that pair.

Making their way down the backside and now into the far turn with five sixteenths of a mile to run, Grayte Catch continued to show the way by two, Precise Performance giving chase with Super Hot on her outside, back down to the rail for Terra Command, Tamaipais on her flank and a gap back to the trailer, Unprecedented.

Around the far turn and now into the lane, three-sixteenths to the finish and Grayte Catch was now joined by Precise Performance as that one ranged up on the outside, a gap of three back to Terra Command from the rail, Super Hot on the outside and Tamalpais between that pair as Unprecedented continued to be the back marker.

Inside the final sixteenth and to the finish, Precise Performance now in front and not really facing a challenge as she coasted home to win by a length (looked like more than that to me).  Terra Command continued on well to take the second spot with Unprecedented making a huge late rail-move to grab third.  Grayte Catch tired to be fourth, then Tamalpais in fifth and Super Hot rounded this one out.

Precise Performance is a 4yo bay filly by Coin Flip – Furious Missle, by Folk Art, and she was bred by her owner, Mb Stables, in Cal.  This was her ninth win from nineteen starts and she now shows lifetime earnings of $2,689.480.  This was her first win since taking the BC Distaff (GI) last fall at KEE, so it’s certainly great to see this monster back in her best form.  Congrats to the connections!

Precise Performance tracked the pace, moved up through the far turn, pulled even with the leader 3/16ths, had more, won driving.  Terra Command was never far from the pace, even late while no threat to the winner.  Unprecedented trailed throughout, closed with a late rush, best foot too late.  Grayte Catch broke alertly, set the pace to the lane, tired.  Tamalpais tracked the leader, flattened.  Super Hot just in behind the pace to the lane, tired.
