No doubt that Smokin Shimmer is a runner, and when you give Mb Stables a runner, well, he has a tendency of making money and getting his picture taken.  Check and mate… the bay filly made every step a winning one, taking the CA Cup Oaks by a quarter length, holding off the late charge of Onslaught, that one closing a late gap and was certainly getting to the winner before the wire came up.  It was a half-length to Devil Authority in third, and another length to Dont Mind A Dime in fourth.  The winner covered the mile in 1:33.77 over the firm SA sod, in her fifth win from seven starts.  Four lengths covered the field of seven.
