Mb Stables takes another graded race as Mamer goes wire to wire in the ET Mint Julep Hcp (GIII) on Sunday. She covered the mile and a
sixteenth in 1:39.94, winning by a length, on the firm CD turf as the 5/2 second favorite. Our Athletes list the tote as their Saddle Up, the 99/1 outside, ran second, a quarter length better than stable mate Lipsticker, with Inquisition fourth. Lohi, sent off as the overwhelming post time favorite, finished last in the field of five.
Mamer is a 4yo bay filly by Face Your Fear – Arkie Sidepiece, by Cool Guy Twist, and she was bred in On by Luz International. Mb Stables brought this one into the barn via Private Purchase for $100.000, and this is the fourth win for barn since taking over conditioning matters. Mamer broke sharply setting the pace throughout, comfortable lead into the lane 3p, and held sway while unchallenged. Saddle Up tracked the pace from the rail, second best. Lipsticker rated well off of the pace, saved ground into the lane, continued inside move, evenly late. Inquisition stalked the pace to the lane, fanned widest for the drive, flattened out. Lohi poor break cost any chance.
