It seems it doesn’t matter which engine you throw at this trainer they still manage to master it within a few races and once again he found the line with another. Given too much to do over this trip last time a quick adjustment on the instruction tab saw he run a perfect stalk and still have enough left despite a strong pace to hold on by a head. Whatever happened to her in the My Dear last year seems to have been put well and truly to bed as she saw out the trip really strongly today to make it three wins from five starts. She is running like a mile plus will suit, so I expect a big entry next time and a place in the KYO will beckon.
2nd Spring Street High Voltage Hernandez J J 6.50 21 1:23.67
This one showed last time out that she can handle an off track and as the two on pacers locked horns today, I thought that would carry her to victory. She kept taking ground off the winner but in the end just could not out battle her and had to settle for second. I have a feeling she is going to develop into a major KYO contender.
3rd Chrystal Cave Maletto Pennington F 5.80 3nk 1:24.00
Despite the strong early pace nothing was closing hard enough to trouble the on pacers, something which seems to be prevalent on this new engine. This filly was the first of them to break though ending up dropping off the first two in the final furlong and whilst this was a good effort, she will have to show a little improvement to get herself back into the KYO picture.
4th Fire Artiste Alydar Stables Hernandez C J 13.25 4no 1:24.06
Never really looked comfortable in her position and was constantly being pushed to hold her ground which end the end saw her fade a little through the final furlong. Her future at this grade is still OK but she will have to step up on this effort to find a graded stakes race.
