GIII PARX Sprint
$200.000 Graded Stake 5 Furlongs on Turf for Three Year Olds & Up
As expected this was a tightly packed field for the whole five furlongs. No one seemed to excited to take the early lead in the race and as a result they ran 7-8 wide almost all the way around the track. Dizzy Spell and Phooeys Quest both stuck their noses out front. Phooey was never able to clear the rest of the field though and ended up falling back finishing last. Dizzy Spell ended up with a similar fate as he could only beat one in the end.
As they turned for home the filly Ranch inherited the lead from the fallen leaders with a large pack still in behind that included Meathook. In the final furlong Meathook was able to move ahead of Ranch as they pulled a length inf front of the rest of the field as they crossed the wire.
Closing nicely from eighth in the early going was Fire Up The Night for owner John Henry. In a dead heat for fourth was fast closing Hold The Mach and Swamp Fox.
Rounding out the field was Romantic Pirate, Roman Rage, Tundra Kenny, Garudimimus, Six Twelve, Dizzy Spell and Phooeys Quest.
Congratulations to the whole team behind Meathook on his first career stake win!
