Menacing Shadow Starts to Eye Big Time with Strong Win

The Ruffian Handicap – Grade II
1 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Filly & Mare 4 Year Olds And Up.

1st Menacing Shadow La Canada Racehorses Davis D

This had to be the most obvious winner of the day, and this really nice filly had no problems confirming that with a strong win. Off the pace early, she had no trouble picking them up and putting them down hitting the wire a length in front. With back-to-back stakes wins she will be looking for a spot in the Distaff after this win takes her tally to nine wins from thirteen starts.

2nd Flint Off Asgar Lezcano J

If the winner was expected, then the fact that this one went back and flew home was also expected and there is no doubt that her huge late run was an eye catcher. Like always the late runs are tough to time right but she did everything she could today and ran a cracker.

3rd Whoop Whoop The Sidley Stud Lopez P

Went the front as her form suggested and got away with reasonable splits. Considering her inexplicable handicap disadvantage she did pretty well to hold onto third in the end.

4th Gutter Black Mo Mentum Farm Velazquez J R

Kept on pretty well for fourth but never really looked like the winner. This is her second decent run in stakes company since being claimed, and I am sure this is a decent win in the locker sooner rather than later.
