The Wayward Lass Stakes
$125.000 For Fillies And Mares Four Years Old And Upward 1 1/16th on Dirt
Tampa Bay Downs, Tampa Fl.
Midnight Rumble from Riggins Racing is a fighter and she proved it today by going last to first in a visually impressive performance. There was simply no match from the field for her stretch kick today. Congrats to the winning connections. “Rumble” is now seven for twenty-one in the win column and has earnings a touch below eight-hundred and fifty thousand dollars. Star Sapphire from John Henry took a lot of late money today and ran big, she just simply ran into a horse that freaked on the afternoon. She looks a nice mare and a solid purchase, congrats on a big effort. Complicated Crazy from Twin Towers Racing gunned from her outside gate and ran a monster to hold on for third in a much better than expected effort. Tip of the cap to the connections.
Of the Rest:
Lab Virus from Saratoga Stud was our second choice during the preview show, but when her nemesis came up alongside of her, she simply had no answer today, but then again, neither did anybody else.
Dispatch Driver from Nakamura Stables looked to have simply found the competition a little too tough on the afternoon. Look for an improved effort on the drop.
Scottish Shortbread from YME Stable simply appeared to not take to the added distance in this, her first around two turns. She should be dead fit if she enters a sprint in her next start.
Jersey Delight from Night Rider Stables did not improve with the slight drop in company today. The seven for sixteen pro might be looking for a lay-off.
Query Business from Williams9 showed good speed and fought the whole way until her heart was broken by the eventual winner and she backed up through the lane.
