Mile Long Enough for Killer Instinct in WO Mile

WO Mile – Grade I
1 Mile Turf Graded Stake Purse $1,000.000 Three-Year-Olds and upward. At WO

1st      Killer Instinct                 Mb Stables              *3.25-1 (HRP) 3-1 (SRF)

Who was it that said one mile would be a bit too short for him? Oh, me… it was me. Well, at least I made him second favourite in odds while the betting public made him the favourite. Stupidly, I placed him finishing sixth in my handicap, but he showed me. This time he never worried about being too far back and too late to the wire; he was never farther back than second, a nose off the lead, took the lead on the backstretch and opened up a comfortable lead. Once established, he just cruised home, never really threatened, to a one-length victory in near track record time.

2nd      Distant Breeze             The Sidley Stud             11.15-1 (HRP) 4-1 (SRF)

Back to the turf seamlessly, Distant Breeze came from off the pace to fall but a length short of the big prize here. He really showed that he loves running a mile, or maybe he showed he just really loves running. In any event, it looks like he’s earned himself a shot at the BC Mile to see if he can keep this marvelous streak of firsts and seconds going.

3rd      Lifeline               D J C Racing Stables         12.45-1 (HRP) 6-1 (SRF)

At age six, Lifeline has decided to become the stakes horse has only dabbled at in the past and seems to enjoy placing third in rich one-mile events. He was excellently placed coming home but seemed to dilly-dally a bit not making up a lot of ground but making up some money.

4th      Snidely Whiplash               TwinTowersRacing      10.05-1 (HRP) 7-2 (SRF)

Snidely Whiplash was in the fray for most of the race and just weakened a bit in the final strides. Still, a strong enough showing for his first grade one try.
