What is the best prep race for one of the biggest two-year-old purses of the year? How about a little maiden at LAD? That is where this one broke his maiden last time out after two efforts down the field in better maidens before that, but it was clear as he worked a 58 and 1 on the grass after that win that he was improving on this surface. At only 15.1hh, he either has plenty of growing to do, is compact or neither because it is hard to tell with just a few basic stats but whatever happens to this one in the coming years he brought home the bacon today. Starting slowly, he had the advantage that the pace can be false when the ground is off as the instructions seem incapable of adjusting and though second last at the first call flew down the stretch for what was an easy and impressive win. Home bred by the owner they will be thrilled at this win and this performance and hoping he can do the same on a dry track.

Close up from his good draw through the race he kept on really well and used his experience on an off track well to run second. He was passed easily by the winner but was really game in holding onto second and provided another great KD result for the owner.
3rd Freak Flag Flying TwinTowersRacing Sanchez M J
Another that was close up with the leading group throughout he did well in his first ever turf run to be third backing up what looked like improver’s work in his last two efforts.
4th Gee Whiz Mb Stables Maldonado E
Won his debut on an off track so there was a bit of a whisper about this one as the rain fell and he ran a solid race to be fourth. Stalking the lead, he looked to be going well at the half, but his lungs gave up in the last 100 yards. He may need a bit more time and he has plenty of that being the least experienced of the first four home, so I wouldn’t be writing off his chances of improving from this.
