$1,000.000 4YO&UP F&M 1 1/16m Dirt |
Wow, wow, wow!!! What a group of ladies headed to the post around 7pm, and we look at the field of eight for the 2016 running of The Phipps Stakes (GI) [BC] which not only carries a $1,000.000 purse, but also an instant ticket to BC Day, which is nice. Now for the tough part… where do you go in this one? I’m going to give the slightest of edges to Distant Cousin. She has three seasonal wins from four starts, and winning last years BC F&M Sprint as a 3yo certainly told you that she was set for a huge 4yo campaign. I like the jock, the post, the surface and her chance to get the job done.
You always have to look at the big barns with their big horses and T S Razor fits the bill. Three wins in a row including that big, big win in the Apple Blossom Hcp (GI) last out. She had struggled a bit with graded horses back last year, but I think she’s a whole different animal right now and has to be feared.
I think you could throw a blanket over a few in the third spot but I’ll give the edge to Lullaby Maker Tf off of that win at the distance down at CD last out. That was her first win of the season after a couple of duds, so it’s good to see Moran back in the saddle and her tactical speed can overcome that outside post, I think.
There’s no bad ones here, so grab a hot dog and a frosty beverage and let’s take this one in down at the rail!
