It was back to the winners circle for Ms Joyce, a four year old filly that won close to $500.000 last year, here in the Ladies Turf Sprint. The trainer kept her busy last year, with 13 starts having been made including a few examples where she races on just two weeks of rest. She was doing that here, too, after not doing much in the Grade 2 Inside Information. Arguably, you could say that she did not do much racing there with her performance, so this was a good way for her to bounce back! She is trained by RNP Stables, and was ridden by P Lopez and this is the first time that either of them had won the stake. Congratulations to them! The time of the race was :56.50, and that is a new stake record. Here’s a look at it!

(¼ Mile- :22.39)- The start of the race sees Hitch A Ride and Silent Anticipation, trained by South Shore Stables and Mwn Racing respectively, jump out to the lead. There is a group of four stalkers right behind them, and in the outside lane it is our eventual race winner, Ms Joyce, for RNP Stables. As they got closer to a quarter mile, she did pull forward from that group to position herself to go three wide for the lead. Otherwise, in the stalker pack, from inside to outside, it’s Ruby Jaws (Arindel), High Roller Lord (Rheingold Stables), and Cassandra G (Angelos Stable). Molly Cat (First Street Stables) is another two lengths behind.

(Top Of Stretch, 1.4F To Go)- Around the turn and into the stretch, Silent Anticipation is the race leader as Hitch A Ride is no longer able to ride along with her and starts to drop back. However, Ms Joyce is not having that kind of a problem as she takes it four wide around the turn. She had not made any additional progress on Silent Anticipation, but was still in a good spot to do so in the stretch. High Roller Lord and Cassandra G continued to run a length behind but each had an unobstructed lane to come on through once they were ready to run. Ruby Jaws and Molly Cat had more work to do.

(Finish- :56.50)- Ms Joyce may have run five and a half furlongs with all of the extra track she was covering, but it would not prove to be a problem for her as he made the pass for the lead early in the stretch. Once there, no one else could take a run at her and Ms Joyce goes on to win by a length. High Roller Lord edges out Cassandra G to complete the exacta with Silent Anticipation slipping to fourth. Molly Cat was the best of the rest in fifth, beating Ruby Jaws and Hitch A Ride, who were the top choices on the board.

About The Winner- Ms Joyce, trained by RNP Stables, and ridden to victory by P Lopez, is a four year old filly by Creepy Time and is out of The Shank. She was bred in New Jersey by the trainer as a yearling and they have been together throughout. Congratulations to the connections! The win is her ninth in 24 starts, and her seventh stake win. Her career earnings are now $760.500.
