1st Natural Zone, trained by Mb Stables
Raced just off the rail two lengths from the lead down the backstretch. Started to advance between horses as they rounded the turn and stuck her head in front at the top of the stretch. Pulled away down the lane for an easy victory.
2nd Gottahotone, trained by Team 7 Illusions
Broke well and went right to the front while getting over to the rail. Opened up by a length while being stalked by Roxy Lisa and Natual Zone. Was challenged for the lead by Roxy Lisa as they rounded the turn and was briefly passed by that one. Gained the lead back from Roxy Lisa but was passed by Natural Zone at the top of the stretch and finished a clear second.
3rd Roxy Lisa, trained by Canadian Racing
Raced outside of Gottahotone a length off her flank down the backstretch. Moved up to challenge for the lead as they rounded the turn and briefly stuck her head in front. Was unable to keep pace with the top two but help on for third.
4th Mortality, trained by John Henry
Trailed the field all the way around the track and never threatened.
Summary
Natural Zone was impressive in victory and put aside concerns that she may be falling off. She certainly may have been aided by the muddy track which I am sure negatively affected Gottahotone. I am sure these two will match up again soon and I will be anxious to see how that unfolds on a fast track.
