AQU 2 NY Stallion Series – Fifth Avenue
$500.000 2yo Fillies Foaled in NY 7f Dirt 120 lbs
Nailed the trifecta..not bad. Estero Farms’ Never Forgotten, bouncing back from a bad BC Day, sat just behind the early pace, responded when asked and won Sunday’s NY Stallion Series – Fifth Avenue by three-quarters of a length while getting the seven furlongs in 1:21.78 over the fast AQU main stip. They couldn’t separate Bite The Bullet and Ms Pea so we had a dead head for the second spot.
The field of eleven got away from the gate in good order with Textes From My Exes and Illustrious Command showing speed from the outside, Ocho Rios and Ms Pea From the middle then Local Glitter and Never Forgotten towards the rail. It was another length back to Bite The Bullet, Sci Fi along the rial, then another length to Simple Truths, Sweet Charis to her inside and Silence Of The Lambs was the early trailer.
They made their way down the backside and were nearing the far turn with a half mile to run and Illustrious Command had the lead over Textes From My Exes by three-quarters of a length. A gap of two back to the trio of Local Glitter between horses, Never Forgotten on the rail and Ocho Rios towards the outside. Another length and a half, Ms Pea was four wide, Bite The Bullet, Sweet Charis between horses and Sci Fi still along
the rail. Another length back to Simple Truths and Silence Of The Lambs continued to trail.
Swing around the turn, into the lane and moving past the three-sixteenths pole, we had a race on our hands. Illustrious Command by a length, Never Forgotten now moving up to give chase as Textes From My Exes lost ground along the inside. Ocho Rios, Local Glitter and Ms Pea winding up from the outside, Bite The Bullet looking for room back towards in the inside, Sweet Charis saved ground while Simple Truths tried to find more from the outside and Silence Of The Lambs needed to get busy.
Deep stretch and down to the finish, Never Forgotten moved up to look Illustrious Command in the eye and then went right on by to take command, Ms Pea continued to close from the far outside and now Illustrious Command with a late burst… but as they hit the finish line, this was all about Never Forgotten and she took the win by three-quarters of a length. Ms Pea and Bite The Bullet hit the line together to dead-heat for the
place, then a tiring Illustrious Command in fourth. Simple Truths was fifth, Sweet Charis, Local Glitter in seventh, Ocho Rios in eighth, Textes From My Exes in ninth, Silence Of The Lambs in tenth and Sci Fi closed this one out.
Never Forgotten is a 2yo bay filly by Mr Creepy – End Of Sanny by End Of Line and she was bred by D J C Racing Stables, here in NY. This was her fourth win from ten starts and it brings her lifetime earnings to $739.000. Acquired via private sale for $350.000, the Estero Farms trained youngster now has three stakes scores, two of those graded and I
have to believe she will continue to add to her earnings… in a big big way.
