Three Year Olds
A field of seven three year old sprinters is going to be heading in the gates for this years Winkfield here at Aqueduct Racetrack. It is a solid field of runners for the most part and it should be a pretty nice race for sure. Now let’s go ahead and take a look at this field.
1. Dracarys (7-0-1-1 $15.990), trained by TwinTowers Racing
This is the one runner in the field that I don’t necessarily think has much of a chance just for the fact that he is a maiden. He hasn’t been able to even win a maiden race so I can’t have any faith in him in a stakes race. The only thing that I can see is maybe he will like the cutback in distance with his running style.
2. Cucamonga (6-2-1-0 $61.300), trained by Tiratzo
Now here is a horse that I think is going to have a pretty decent chance in here. He just won his last race at Tampa by three lengths and just crushed that field. The race before that he ran seventh in the grade one Hopeful and only got beat by two lengths. If he runs like that I think he will be pretty tough in here.
3. Senor Bay (9-3-1-1 $100.470), trained by Gdp Inc
Here is the runner in the field with the most wins. Last out was one of those wins and that was against New York bred allowance company which he won by a head against eight others. That win was at this same distance and also here over the same track so maybe that could indicate what he will do in here.
4. Lounge Lizard (5-2-0-1 $29.990), trained by Rampage Stable
Right here is a horse who I think is going to be a very legitimate player in this race because he is on the up and up. He has won his last two against West Virginia bred maiden special weight runners and then an allowance race at Sunland. I think he is improving with every race and he will have a good chance.
5. Texas Flood (7-1-3-0 $68.480), trained by D J C Racing Stables
Also one of the runners that I think has a very good chance right here. He is coming off of two second place finishes in stakes races in a row and he looks pretty tough in this spot. His trainer said that he really likes this horses chances so I’m going to have to give him a very good chance for sure.
6. Trigger Finger (6-1-1-0 $67.200), trained by Aer Stables
I am going to also give this horse a pretty good chance in here because he has some good races from earlier on in his two year old season. He ran fourth in the grade one Hopeful and also ran second in a stakes race at Churchill. I think he has a pretty decent chance if he can return to his two year old form.
7. Harley Street (9-2-2-2 $219.520), trained by Mb Stables
My top pick of the race right here because he has earned the most money and he is also a runner up in the grade one Hopeful last year. He hasn’t been able to repeat that race but I think he has a pretty good shot to do that here. He is going to be my top pick and I think he will be very tough to beat.
Summary
This is going to be a pretty good race I think and there are some pretty good horses in this field. My top pick is going to be Harley Street because he is the most accomplished horse in the field and I think he is going to be very tough in this spot if he runs his best race. Good luck to everyone in the field.
