The 2015 Excelsior seems to be a 2-part story – Nile Warrior and who wants to run second to him here today.  Second in the BC Classic (GI), and a winner of almost $2,400.000 last season, the chestnut stallion kicked-off 2015 with a nice Alw score at GP, leading wire to wire that was more like a paid work-out than anything.  He won that by 3 after setting a pace that didn’t allow anything near him.  They do make a bit of a pilot change here today, but I think I could ride him to victory in this one.

Let’s put Hyper Silver under him in the exacta.  He won the Stymie over this track last out, closing well to get the job done.  He’s never been the mile and a quarter distance, but it doesn’t appear to be something he can’t handle.  I don’t think he can get to the winner, but he looks ‘best-of-the-rest’ to me.
