2 AQU The Haynesfield
$100.000 4yo&Up Foaled in NY 1m Dirt 123lbs +penalties
A nice group of nine NY-bred older males will be headed to the post on Sunday and we look at The Haynesfield, a one mile main track stakes. I’ll be headed to the outside posts for my top selections and gave Local Dude the slight edge to get the job done here. He’s won back to back races including a nice win (DH) over this track last out facing NY-bred Alw horses. That was a flat mile as well, so… you get the picture. Savage is another that has to get a big look off of that fast closing third vs NY-bred stakes types in his 21 debut. He loves the NY-bred races and seems a logical choice here as well.
Here’s The Field –
Solid type that always seems to be around when they hand out checks. He’s making his third start of the year and was on the board in both prior seasonal starts and should make a give another good effort here today. Eight for eleven last year, so he’s keeping it going.
Got the job done last out taking down NY-bred Alw horses and he’s been first or second in all of his 21 starts, showing a pair of placings down in Tampa. He was on the board in seven of eleven starts last year, so you know he’s a consistent type.
Didn’t win a race in 20 but he was running in open company after being claimed for $25.000 back in Feb. Didn’t hit the board vs. graded company and has been rested with a string of am gallops getting ready for today. Will he find this more to his liking?
Only a single win in 20 and his best races came early in the season… since then, it’s been a struggle and his 21 debut was a forgettable tenth of twelve at TUP. He needs to turn it around.
Closed out 20 with an Alw win at FG and has two fourth place efforts this year at the stakes level. One of those on the main track, one on the turf, and he ran very evenly in both races. He could fit will with this group and is eligible to improve.
Broke maiden at GP last out and they go right after stakes horses. He was second vs. the same prior to breaking maiden, so he is showing good form. This one could be any type and may come at a price, so if you’re on his bandwagon, it may be a spot to cash a ticket.
Two wins last season including a nice Alw win at KEE, which is probably his best race to date. Kicked off the new season with a third place finish against NY-bred Alw horses, so this looks like a spot for him to be a factor.
Back-to-back wins coming into this including a nice win at the distance and at this track last out. He just missed vs similar to close out his 20 season, so he really looks in a spot to get the job done. I think you have to use him on all tickets.
Only a single win last season and it came early on, but he was close in a number of races including vs. NY-bred stakes company. He was third vs. that type last out when closing well to be third in the Hughes. Give him a big look.
