Herecomesthebride Stakes – Grade 3

$200.000 GP – 1 Mile – Turf

For Fillies Three Years Old

March 4, 2023

The stage is set for a rematch. Three of these fillies met in the Sweetest Chant (Grade 3) – Broadway Lady, Lwaxana, Risky Maneuver. They finished second, third and fourth respectively. But these three are not the only fillies in this field worth a look. Wam Bam Thank U Maam finished second in the Grade 3 Durant and could get her first graded win here.

Here’s the field:

1 Wam Bam Thank U Maam (Luz International)

Second in the Grade 3 Durant two starts back at 1 mile. Only other win came in maiden special weight company at PRX. Won by two lengths that day. A win wouldn’t be a surprise for this one.

2 Toc Black Swan (Riggins Racing)

Making her stakes debut and her first start for her new connections after changing hands last month. Broke her maiden at PRX two starts back but couldn’t hit the board in N1X company last out. May be asking too much.

3 Smokin Gun (Williams9)

Broke her maiden by a whopping five lengths last out in PA-bred company against three rivals. Took her awhile to hit that milestone. Could probably use a little more experience, but one to watch.

4 Puka Time (RNP Stables)

Just a maiden win for this one, too. Tried graded last out but finished up the track. Needs a little bit of luck and a top performance to compete here.

5 Broadway Lady (Arindel)

Second in the Sweetest Chant (Grade 3) last out after finishing second in the BC Juvenile Fillies Turf. In fact, she has been second in all of her graded attempts. You just know she’s due for a win. Looks strong in this field.

6 Lwaxana (Alydar Stables)

Third in the Sweetest Chant behind Broadway Lady. Looking for a rematch here. Remains to be seen if she’s up to the task.

7 Raw and Real (Mb Stables)

Wired the field in allowance company at FG last out. A stakes winner but didn’t fare well in her last try at this level, finishing fifth in the Durant (Grade 3). Only out of the money once in seven starts. Wouldn’t count her out but she’ll need to bring her A game.

8 Risky Maneuver (Mb Stables)

Looked strong last summer and fall with three straight in-the-money performances at stakes and graded stakes level, including a win in the $500.000 Untapable and a second in the grade 3 Surfer Girl. Has had mixed success so far, with a second in optional claiming company and a fourth in the Sweetest Chant. If she can get back to her earlier form, she should have a say in the outcome.

9 Loud Mouth (TwinTowersRacing)

Hasn’t been to the winner’s circle since a win in the $125.000 Catch A Glimpse Stakes last August going 6 ½ furlongs. In fact, she hasn’t really been involved in any of her recent starts. Looks outclassed in this field.

10 Stop Thinking (Rampage Stables)

Allowance winner with limited success in stakes company. Hasn’t been able to hit the board in stakes or graded company. Another one who’s probably a bit outclassed.

Picks: 5-8-1
