Regret – Grade III
1 1/8 Mile Turf Stake Purse $275.000 Filly 3 Year Olds.
1st Blakeney Royalty Stables Velazquez J R
Well, the rain that some of the runners wanted stayed away and the ground dried out, but I did feel that this was one filly in particular that could’ve won on any going. Breaking smartly, she soon had the lead and never really looked in danger of losing that lead. She set a pretty good pace but had plenty left to hold them at bay going under the wire a length clear in a decent time for her first stakes win. It was good to see this filly finally get a win after some big, placed efforts in the BC Juvenile turf, The Surfer Girl and the Edgewood last time out.
2nd Happy Dancer Nakamura Stables Gallardo A A
Stalked the lead after contending early but never really looked like getting to her in a race and a day that seemed to favor the leaders a little. After her disappointing run in the Gazelle last time, I think we may see her on the turf again after this good effort.
3rd Sannys Legacy Threshold Lopez P
Went back as she usually does but the dry track saw her big finish blunted a little and whilst she made ground through the inside, she could never unleash her blistering turn of foot on the fast surface. A good enough effort for third but she will be hunting the weather for her next run.
4th Love Mo Mentum Farm Franco M
Let the two leaders get away and never really let down when she was asked to go and chase them down. Kept on for fourth but never really looked like getting much closer than that.
