The WV Governors Stakes – Grade III
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $200.000 Open 3 Year Olds And Up.
1st Lord Of Peace Fractious Jaramillo E
It is true that i normally report a poor three year old beating a good four year old and spend the next paragraph berating the weight allowance system at HRP. However in the case of this race the three year old that won would probably have still won giving weight to the older horses his form was that superior.
Third in a very hot IND Derby last time he would certainly have not looked out of place in the TC races after just failing to get a place after a few good efforts in the lead up races. The off track didn’t hurt his chances either so it was just a question of a sticky draw but as he was taken back off the pace even that wasn’t going to be a problem. He won by two easy lengths in the end and if he can find the right races he should get into a BC field and will not be without a chance.
2nd Socrates Mb Stables Juarez N
This horses form looks pretty inconsistent and as he dropped back to last today from the wide draw it looked like an off day. Picking up in the second part of the race however he ran on really willingly to get up for second. It is hard to know where he sits in the great Mb Stable but on his day he is certainly capable of winning a race like this.
3rd Main Stage Mb Stables Fuentes Ru
Considering his inferior form he ran well to be third keeping on without ever looking like a danger. This wasn’t a bad effort but as he had a good draw today i think this may be about the best of him.
4th Master Puppet Estero Farms Bahen S R
Made it home in fourth to make it a clean sweep for the three year olds this seem to be the run of a sprinter as he certainly struggled down the stretch.
