I have heard it said many times and i have even said it myself that someone with multiple runners can manipulate a pace to suit their runners. It happens in real life and it happens here so whilst there is nothing wrong with it it is somewhat pleasing when it doesn’t come off. Before the off i felt that this horse was not only special but could be the BC Fillies and Mares winner of 2022 but as Bonnie went out and set a ridiculous pace and this horse came from wide to stalk it i thought that we were going to see the best horse beaten. However, and trust me here, this horse is SPECIAL. Not only did she stalk the winner who was running splits that were more akin to a five furlong sprint but she took the lead off it at the 6 furlong pole going through in a sub 1.09 time. With half the race still to run i was still waiting for her lungs to bust and all the others to swamp her but miraculously she just kept on motoring sauntering home a clear cut three length winner. In truth the run home was very slow but she still had more than enough left to play with her rivals and win by so far that i cannot even consider her being beaten in the BC with a weight allowance.
There has never been a horse with a better name !
2nd Glip Glop TwinTowersRacing Velazquez J R
Did everyone else know what was going to happen in this race or was it just one of those things that only three horses tried to chase the pace whilst everything else sat back waiting for the leaders to weaken like stuck pigs. It is poetic in a way that the filly that was running in a five furlong sprint just two races back was the one to emerge from the pack to grab second and it has to be said that this trainer is either a magician or just keeps throwing it at the wall until it sticks. This was a huge effort from this filly to grab second.
3rd Love Is Free Iolaus Racing Silvera Ru
Closed hard as did most of the runners but never looked like reaching the winner and whilst she was well beaten like the runner up the trainer wont be displeased with this effort. Bred by the owner she seems to have the stamina of her sire and it will be interesting to see how she comes on from this effort.
4th Bonnie Arindel Ferrer J C
It seems obvious, although nothing is obvious at HRP, that the trainer sent this one out on a fast instruction and tried to set the race up for their other runner. It was a bit of a surprise then that this one managed to last home for fourth despite running five furlongs as fast as she did when running in a five furlong allowance at the start of the year. It was a bold effort by the trainer and possibly the only thing that could beat Perfect Class but at the end of the day brilliant tactics or a race engine cock up could not stop the winner today. I actually think this one did remarkably well considering.
