The Forego – Grade I
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $500.000 Open 4 Year Olds And Up.
1st Crush Rush Maxmillion Farm Jimenez A
Won the race for the early lead and never really looked in danger of getting beat confirming himself as a leading chance in the BC Sprint this year. The last time he didn’t manage triple-digit speed figures was back in 2023 and being the golden age of five, it looks like the trainer has a really big sprinter on his hands which bettered his fourth-place finish in this race last year and looks to be at the top of his improvement curve. There is a lesson here for all of us as he was bought for just $10.000 in the auctions of summer 22 and then sold for just $55.000 a few months later after failing to win a race for his new owner. Patience can be key here at HRP and you should never give up on a horse till they turn five.
2nd Niagra Showdown Mb Stables Prat F
Talking of cheap buys, Mb Stables claimed this one for just $35.000 less than a month ago and today watched the seven-year-old storm home for a fast finishing second. This was a huge effort from the veteran who has always shown promise, but it took a trip to the champion trainer to bring that promise to the track.
3rd Got Milk D J C Racing Stables Elliott S
Traveling just behind the leaders, I thought he was given the perfect trip until the whips came out in the stretch. He flattened out a little and couldn’t quicken but this consistent improver again ran a great race,
4th Lennon Fractious Franco M
Tried to stick with the eventual winner but paid the price late on. It very often happens that when an on-pace horse can’t get the lead they end up weakening from the stalk and that is exactly what happened to this one. His confidence was high after four wins in a row and coming off a long break it could be that he needed this run, so I wouldn’t be writing him off any time yet.
