7 BEL The Maid of the Mist

The big day of NY-bred stakes continues and we look at a nice group of 2yo fillies in The Maid of the Mist, going a mile on the main track here in Elmont, NY. We all know how bad I am at the baby races and this looks like a tough group but I’ve landed on Kent as my top selection. Despite having a single win from her three starts, that third in the Sorority Stakes and the fourth in the Alcibiades (GI) is enough to tip the scale. Reasoning got the job done vs. similar last out, so there’s no reason to think that she can’t be in the middle of this one. She broke maiden and then won that stakes here, so she’s in fine form and the big barn knows how to get it done.
I’m horrible at these and The Green Card likes something else, so… you’re probably better off looking at those picks.

Sold after a pair of fourth place finishes vs. similar to what she sees in this one. Both of those races were at SAR but she broke maiden over this track prior to those races so maybe getting back to this surface is key for her.

Well bred filly looks the part as she broke maiden last out over the turf here at BEL but was close on the main track at ELP in her debut. She could be any type and you always have to watch the big stable so give this one a serious look.

Second half of the Mb Stables entry and I think you have to give this one a big big look. She broke maiden at SAR in her third start then came back to take down NY-bred stakes horses over this track last out. Give her every chance to get the job done today.

Was cruising right along breaking maiden over this surface and taking The Seeking The Ante at SAR, then beat one in the Pocahontas (GIII) at CD last out. Obviously, that was stiffer than this so can she bounce back to be a factor today?

Broke maiden at first asking then was third in the Sorority at MTH and fourth in the Alcibiades (GI) at KEE in her most recent. Those were two acid tests and she had nothing to be ashamed of out of those finishes, so she most be given a big chance to get the job done here today.

She just never seems to run a bad race and broke maiden at SAR two back then ran a bang up race to be second (DH) in the Seeking the Ante so she certainly fits well with this group. The Green Card has her on top and he’s been pretty sharp handicapping these 2yo races of late.

Second part of the Smokey Stover entry and she had a pair of four length victories prior to the closing fifth in the Frizette (GI) and if she can run back to that last-out effort, she could be a tough horse today. She may also come with nice odds.
