Out to New Jersey and a nice field of nine set for The Salvator Mile (GIII) on the main track.  I’ve landed on Figured The Storm as my top selection… He looked good getting the job done at WO and did it in very quick time, so I’ll look for him to repeat and use his speed to get it done.  I’ll go right next door and put Angelsinheaven as the second choice.  He just never seems to run a bad race and looked good closing on a wet surface at BEL to just miss, at today’s distance.

It’s a wide open affair, so let’s see how this one plays out.

Here’s The Field –

1
Country Model    Night Rider Stables    Moya R F   124   10/1

He’s having a solid year but this is the deep end of the pool… ran down NM-bred stakes horses for his only seasonal win and has a pair of runner-up efforts coming into this one, one again vs. NM-bred stakes company and the other vs high end Alw types at CD.  He’s in good form, but this is a tough group.

2
Man With A Plan    Gdp Inc    Jimenez A   124   6/1

He broke maiden to kick off the year and he’s been tough since… won an OptAlw race at SA, that going today’s distance, then was third in the Carter Hcp (GI) at 75/1 odds, only to come back with a solid fourth in the Alysheba (GII).  He looks like patience has paid off and should be set to bring home a win.

3
   Boardwalk    Nakamura Stables    Juarez N   124   5/2

Closed out a 4-win season in ’21 with a victory in the Cigar Hcp (GI), but he’s still looking for the first win of the ’22 season.  He shows a pair of runner-up finishes and a third, all vs. Alw company, but the timing may be right for this one to get back after it in a big way.  You have to put him on your tickets.

4
   Speter    Nakamura Stables    Santos A   124   8/1

Two wins this season, taking down Alw types at TAM then winning last out at PIM vs similar.  His two (ungraded) stakes efforts resulted in a fourth and a fifth, so he needs to improve to be part of the goings-on here.

5
Get Set Gone    John Henry    Camacho Sa   124   8/1

He’s sold twice in the time of his last two change of hands… and the writing may be on the wall.  He’s won some big races at put more than $600.000 in the bank, but it’s starting to look like his best days are past and he hasn’t hit the board in a while.  If he find some old magic, look out.

6
Casper Point    Gdp Inc    Jimenez M   124   6/1

Has been very consistent, hitting the board just about every time he goes to the gate, but tired to be a tiring sixth in the PIM Special (GIII), but that may have been a bit more distance than he wanted.

7
   Angelsinheaven    Angelos Stable    Diaz H R Jr   124   9/2

Another that’s been very consistent and ran big last out when second only beaten a half length in the Westchester (GIII) on a wet BEL track.  He runs big on dry tracks as well, so give him a big look today as he looks to be sitting on a big race.

8
Figured The Storm    Arindel    Castillo I   124   7/2

Got the job done last out, taking down Alw types at WO, and has won three of his last four starts, so you know he’s in fine form right now.  Took the More To Tell at AQU, going today’s distance, and I think he’s a horse that you have to give a big look today.

9
   Milford Sound    Mwn Racing    Gonzalez J L   124   7/2

Struggled in two of his last three starts, an eighth in the NO Hcp (GII) and the same in the PIM Special (GIII) but came back a bit in his most recent, a fourth only beaten a length in the Aristides BC at CD last out.  He also won the Hooper (GIII) at GP to kick off the season, so he’s a big threat.
