Officer Outcast with a Measured Length Win in Toronto Cup Stakes

The weather was perfect today at Woodbine and all 4 horses that entered the starting gate had to be very happy about that. The heavy favorite as the gates opened was the inside horse Officer Outcast for Downwind Stables. When the gates sprung open all of the horses seemed to come out well but after the first 2 furlongs it was obvious that there were 2 horses who wanted the lead and were doing battle. The horses were Hide The Parachute who held a narrow lead over Officer Outcast. Le Grand Inquisiteur and Dullahan were both 3 lengths off the lead. A half mile into the race Hide The Parachute had lengthened the lead to 1 an ¾ lengths with Officer Outcast in 2nd, and Dullahan had edged away into 3rd. At the ¾ mile mark the running ordered had stayed the same but Officer Outcast had moved outside and looked to take aim on the long time leader Hide The Parachute. With a furlong and a half to go Hide The Parachute appeared to be tiring and Officer Outcast had pulled even. Dullahand and Le Grand Inquisiteur had also hit a better stride and were closing in both 3 lengths off the lead. In the dash to the finish Officer Outcast powered on by Hide The Parachute and was able to hold off the closing efforts of Dullahan and Le Grand Inquisiteur who just passed Hide The Parachute for a dead heat for 2nd place.
