Oh Awesome One Looking for Two In A Row in The United Nations Stakes

The United Nations Stakes – GI
6/22/19
MTH Race 11 1 3/8M – Turf
Purse $300.000
Three Year Olds and Up

A field of eight turf specialists have been entered up for this years running of the grade one United Nations here at Monmouth Park over the turf course. It is a very nice field and it looks to be a very competitive race on paper. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Oh Awesome One (41-8-5-7 $948.420), trained by TwinTowers Racing

The first runner in the field right here is coming into this race off of a win in the grade two Dixie at Pimlico on Preakness weekend. He ran a huge race that day to win by a neck. If he can repeat that performance I think that he will have a decent chance in here for sure.

2. Name Drop (13-5-2-2 $858.010), trained by John Henry

This next runner in the race will be making his first start for his new trainer since he just purchased in the auction. He is a classy horse and he did run in the Breeders Cup Mile last year. His last work was very strong but I am not sure if it will translate over to this race.

3. Puget Sound (9-4-1-1 $100.700), trained by Mb Stables

The next runner in the field is the first three year old that we come across. Ever since Mb Stables claimed this horse and put him on the turf he has been running great. I think he is a good horse but this is a big jump up in class so I’m not sure how he will handle it.

4. Lets Do It Big Boy (24-5-6-2 $1,167.970), trained by RNP Stables

And now to this runner right here who has been busy this year so far. He is coming into this race off of a two week turnaround after running third in the grade one Manhattan on Belmont day. He ran a good race that day but the quick turn around is a big question mark.

5. Sumi Gaeshi (5-2-1-0 $42.400), trained by Maxmillion Farm

And here we have another three year old in the field right here and this horse is coming into this race off of a win in a statebred allowance race at Santa Anita. Most of the time he comes from behind so a quick pace will help him out quite a bit. I think hey may be a little outclassed though.

6. Coco (11-3-1-0 $108.240), trained by Joshua Stables

Next horse in the field right here is coming into this race off of his first ever stakes win which was in the Murphy Stakes at Pimlico on Preakness weekend. He ran a big race that day but that was not against competition like he is facing in here. He will have to run a huge race.

7. Thanks For Nothing (11-2-1-2 $93.600), trained by D J C Racing Stables

And the next horse in the field right here looks like the weakest runner in the race at least to me. He has not even been able to win minor stakes and allowance races so I just do not see him having much of a chance in here. Maybe he will shock me though.

8. People Doubted (19-5-5-1 $1,293.350), trained by Aml Racing

And the final runner in the field and this runner was one of the best turf runners in the game last year. He has not been running very good as of late though and he has a very tough post to overcome also. He needs some of that form from last year to return to have any chance.

Summary

A nice field has been gathered up for sure for this running of the United Nations. I think that the horse to beat in here is Oh Awesome One. He ran a big race last time and he is a good horse and I think he is ready to go in here. Good luck to all in the race.
