NY Stallion Series – Staten Island
7 Furlongs Dirt Stake Purse $125.00 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up Foaled In NY.

The result of this race had a bit of a farcical look about it as one length covered
the entire field from stakes winners to thrice raced three year olds.
But ignoring the rather unrealistic spread at the end we were treated to a great race.

1st Love Me Do, trained by Maverick Racing
The start was the key for this one as Maverick Racing managed to get the filly to
ignore the outside speed push and drop back to a very close last. Racinga  little
wide was far better than shooting off into the lead and after a peach of a ride she
timed her challenge perfectly to take this race by a neck. This was nice compensation
for a filly that had run so well in a couple of grade ones this year and i dont think
anyone could complain that this filly took her second black type race of the season.

2nd Vertigineuz, trained by D J C Racing Stables
I was very surprised to see this one start as favourite esecially as on paper she
looked inferior to her stable mate. However the HRP odds maker seems to know more than me
and she very nearly pulled off an all the way win. Using the inside gate perfectly she
was given a soft lead and built the pressure nicely until just faltering in the last strides.
This was another good effort by the improving filly.

3rd The Generals Out, Hambletonian Stable
Gave weight away all round in another brave effort from this very consistent four year
old. In the close stalk she kept giving her best all the way to the line and lost
nothing in a narrow defeat.

4th Isabeli, Night Mare Racing
Kept on well in a very tactical race and was only beaten a length.

5th El Gran Cuffed, trained by D J C Racing Stable
Stalked her stable mate but could only whack away at the one pace.

6th Set In Her Ways, trained by Mb Stables
Even though she was last you could hardly say she failed in this her first attempt at
this grade. Only beaten a length she was close enough to be given another chance in this
company.
