Purse $125.000 For Fillies And Mares Three Years Old And Upward.
1 Snakie Hippie Girl First Street Stables Wilson E J
A small field with no stand outs so every filly must be looked at closely here. A sub 1.37 mile work, a rail draw and winning form at ungraded stakes level last time all play into this daughter of Snakie’s corner. A winner of three from ten she is untested over a longer trip with her only run in a route resulting in a distant third as a two year old. She will have got stronger so i dont think the trip is an issue and she looks an honest sort who will be in this race at the end.
2 Valarita Gdp Inc Garcia Alan
It took a muddy track at WO last time for her to break her maiden at the fifth attempt but here is the HRP conundrum because she was working as fast as her rivals whilst still a maiden and with very little between a top level maiden and a stakes race in terms of race times and ability you sort of have to ignore her lack of black type form. The perfect draw and an inform jockey she may choose to go to the front and control the tempo as she did last time and of she gets away with a soft lead she could just be there at the end.
3 Techno Cheryl The Sidley Stud Campbell J M
A winner of four from eleven she has been tested at a higher level than most of these and has performed well enough to see her start atleast second favourite to win. The winner of the grade three Tempted at two she has been in graded company in all her starts this year managing a third in the Selene last time. This drop in company gives her a chance of getting back to winning ways as she does look a few lengths off the top level but with fluctuating works and less than inspiring form this year she may just be a looking at second or third.
4 Elegant Mb Stables Hernandez R M
Though she is drawn wide this filly is head and shoulders above this field on form. On works of course she is just the same but at this level works mean less than the class gene and this one has that gene for all to see. Beaten just a neck in the BC Juvenile fillies last year she ran a nose second in the Santa Ysabel Stakes and then very nearly took the SA Oaks next up going down by just a neck. She made the running from a wide draw that day and Mb will have to be careful the race engine doesnt ruin her chances today but she really does look so much better it may not matter. The one chink in her armour may be a wet track as she was pretty bad in the Eight Belles last time in the mud but then and only then would i look to getting her beat.
SUMMARY
This looks straight forward enough Elegant to beat one of the others.
