• Confident Elegance Lives Up to Her Name in LCD Lassie

  Confident Elegance has gotten her career off to a great start, finishing second on debut and then following that up with three straights wins, which did include a LA-bred stake back in August. She would bring that streak to FG for the running of the LCD Lassie, and she seems like the one to beat.

  For Continental, the LCD Juvenile was a lot like his last race, the Peluso Memorial Stakes, that he won by a half a length. In that race, he had to carry two more pounds than most of his rivals, and in the LCD Juvenile, he would spot the entire field those two pounds.

• Gigafemme Overpowers Rivals in Stretch to Win Fifth Avenue

  Gigafemme has made it a habit to run against NY-breds, but was still looking for her first win against them in a stake. She had run well in her two prior races, and was expected to do the same here as well. It turns out that she would wait until the purse reached this high point to grab the win, an impressive win of nearly two lengths.

• Elegance on Display in LCD Lassie

  The two year old stakes at LA were able to fill, so I’ll pick up the 15th running of the LCD Lassie on Saturday, which has also drawn a field of five. The purse for the race has been a consistent $100.000 throughout time, and that might be part of the reason the LA is getting passed over on the breeding side as other states have higher such purses.
