The fastest less then one minute in sports is the five furlong turf stake race and this one did not disappoint. These races are typically very tight and very fast races and this one was just that with the third place horse only 0.02 behind the winner.

End Of Bay from the eight post was out the quickest while Phooeys Quest, Engaging and Crush On Rita took to the back of the pack hoping to close late.

End Of Bay, Dehere and Abu were all stuck out wide the whole way around the turn and as a result when they hit the stretch had nothing left in the tank. The backfield came charging and the first one to overtake the lead group was Snake In The Ring who slide in along the rail to take the lead but from the back of the pack Phoeeys Quest swung out wide around the slowing leaders and in the final few strides was able to get a nose in front for the win. At the very last step Engaging was able to get a nose in front of Snake In The Ring to finish second while Moscow Court finished in fourth.

High weight and post time favorite, American Life was in a good stalking position but had nothing coming down the stretch and finished last.

Congratulations to Smokey Stover and their talented colt Phooeys Quest on the win. Phooey stopped the clock in 56:38 for the five furlong distance.
