The Monomy Girl – $175.000
CD – 1 1/16 Mile – Dirt
For Fillies Three Years Old
June 17, 2023
Looks like no one is going to get an easy lead in this race. Black Book looked impressive breaking her maiden from on or near the pace last out. Conoshi likes the view from the front and just might have what it takes to stay there. Play In The Sand also does her best running on the front, but it’s hard to say what she will do going this far on dirt for the first time. Thanks Cmazz has never been headed, but she might not have what it takes to get the lead in this field. Mental Scars wired a field of eight last out. If none of them can stay the distance, a speed duel could benefit a filly like Shining At Knight that can come from off the pace.
Here’s the field:
1 Childe Girl (Nakamura Stables)
Purchased at auction in March. Hasn’t had a race since January, hasn’t been to the winner’s circle since last July, has never run beyond a mile. Seems a bit outclassed in this field.
2 Shining At Knight (Our Athletes)
Only a maiden win for this filly, but she managed to collect enough points in graded company to garner a spot in the KY Oaks where she finished last but only by two lengths. Comes from off the pace, so will need a good trip.
3 Queen Evade Party (Maxmillion Farm)
Another one with just a maiden win. Second in back-to- back allowances on turf. Working very well. We’ll see if she can transfer that to the track.
4 Conoshi (Mo Mentum Farm)
Won an optional claimer at SA before trying stakes competition in her last start. Finished third after leading at every call. Does her best running on the lead and she just might still be there at the wire.
5 Play In The Sand (Luz International)
Claimed for $37.500 last out in a second-place effort. Only one start on dirt for this filly, a 6 ½ furlong optional claimer where she finished third. Not much to go on for this one. Will wait and see what she can do.
6 Thanks Cmazz (Patterson Stables)
Perfect two-for-two, but one of those wins was at PEN. Another one who may challenge for the early lead. Seems a bit outclassed here.
7 Black Book (Mb Stables)
Just a maiden win for this one, but it was a pretty impressive performance going 1 1/16 mile and winning by three lengths. Likes the view from the front and could have a say in the outcome.
8 Mental Scars (Nakamura Stables)
Riding a two-race winning streak that includes a maiden and a low-level allowance. Another one that likes to run on or near the pace. Has only finished off the board once in six starts but has never really been tested.
9 Groovy (Calia Stable)
Graded and ungraded stakes experience could give this filly an edge. Just a maiden win, but she’s been close several times at higher levels. Look for a big performance from this one.
