Present Tense Turns Back the Clock in Hirsch Stakes

Hirsch Stakes – Grade I [BC]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $400.000 Filly & Mare 3 Year Olds And Up.

1st Present Tense Mb Stables Ortiz J L

In the end it was this wonderful mare’s class that got her home from her only real rival, going under the wire by a neck. Settling behind the speed she made her move at the right time and then dug deep forcing her old legs to match her big heart. This grade one victory puts her right back in the race for the BC Distaff and you can bank on her turning up on the big day.

2nd Jawaher D J C Racing Stables Pennington F

Tried hard to beat the older mare but went down by a neck in what was probably the result everyone expected. She has been second twice now at grade one this year and being a four-year-old will be around for a bit yet and is entitled to find a bit of improvement as she matures.

3rd Gutter Black Mo Mentum Farm Espinoza V

Ran on the speed and kept on pretty well but at the end she was beaten by a couple of horses with superior class. She is another four-year-old that has shown plenty so far this year and like the runner up may well find some improvement in the second part of the year, so she is certainly worth sticking with.

4th My Pretty Threshold Curtis B

An on-pace sprinter, she decided today that she would play the waiting game and although she ran on a bit never really got out of the waiting room. Your guess is as good as mine as to where she goes next, but this could well be a note from the race engine that her best days are behind her.
