Three Year Olds Fillies FL Breds

Only a field of four will be lining up to take down this years running of the Ocala Stakes here at Tampa Bay Downs. The race is for three year old fillies that are Florida breds so a nice statebred stakes race here. Let’s take a look at the field.

1. Mama Rebel Myra (12-3-0-1 $19.270), trained by Overpeer Stables

First filly in the field here and she is trained by my fellow SRF writer Overpeer Stables. She has not been close at all in her last four but every career start has been on turf. If she switches over to the dirt and seems to really like it maybe she will turn that bad form around.

2. She Great (16-3-3-4 $320.780), trained by Team 7 Illusions

Next filly here is a stakes winner on the year but that was a race that was run on the turf. Almost all of her best races in her career have been on the turf but she can handle the dirt also. I think the drop in class in here will help her out quite a bit. She will be very tough to beat.

3. Happy Geek (9-1-1-3 $34.200), trained by Overpeer Stables

Second runner in here trained by Overpeer Stables and this filly has been running on the free track in her last start. Most of her career races have been on the turf also but I believe she can handle the dirt also. She will need to run a big race to have a shot.

4. Puerto Princesa (13-4-1-4 $271.650), trained by Paradise Stable

Final filly in the field here and this may be the one to beat if she can return to her form she had in the spring and summer. She has already won a stakes race over this track and is almost a graded stakes winner. If she gets the early lead there may be no catching her.

Summary

A small field and well three out of the four have been strictly turf for most of their racing careers. My top pick has to go to Puerto Princesa with a stakes win already over this track. I think she will get the lead and never look back. Good luck to all in the field.
