Quail Trot Doubles Up in My Dear

The FL Sire Stakes – My Dear
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $300.000 Filly 2 Year Olds Foaled In FL.

1st Quail Trot Wood Duck Stables Gaffalione T 1:42.05

After her impressive win in the FL Sire Stakes Susan last time the only mystery about this win was why she didn’t start favorite. She displayed the rather nice characteristic of being able to react to pace in this race going back a little further than normal before making good ground and looking the winner a long way out. This makes it three wins in a row and two of the nice State bred prizes in the bag and I would imagine the owner is pretty excited about her prospects for next year now she has stretched out over a longer trip.

2nd Bridal Bouquet Alydar Stables Centeno D E 1:42.40

Didn’t get as far back in the Susan but the result and running stye was the same as she came late getting within a length of the winner this time. Two good efforts against what may be a very good filly she will win good races next year as long as she can find a bit of early pace that doesn’t blunt her finish.

3rd The Lioness Mb Stables Saez L 1:42.54

The trainer was not having the same thing happen to her that happened in the BC and rather than going back to the trail and running home, she was gunned out front using the wide gate speed push. With a quarter mile to go she looked to have got a big enough break, but she tied up badly down the stretch and ended up third.

4th Dont Go There Mb Stables Ferrer J C 1:43.12

Stalked the stable companion at a decent pace and paid the price down the stretch weakening into fourth.
