Quality Road was in no hurry coming out of the gate in Monday’s Commentator. He settled into last early and trailed by five at the first call. In the meantime, leader Galapagos opened up by three lengths. Into the far turn, Evgenii started cutting into the lead. Quality Road had one horse beaten and still had five lengths to make up. Into the stretch, Galapagos opened up again and Quality Road swung to the outside for his run. He accelerated past the field in the stretch and hit the wire half a length in front of Galapagos.

1 Quality Road (D J C Racing Stables) Closed with authority in the stretch to get up for the win.

2 Galapagos (Night Rider Stables) Led at every call but the last one and ended up second.

3 Fionas Miracle (La Canada Racehorses) Midpack throughout, made a big move in the stretch for show money.

4 Harlem (Fractious) Gained ground but lost position and ended up fourth by a length.

5 Evgenii (Arindel) Faded late from second to fifth.

6 Galactic Command (Lindeman Prairie) Never a factor.

D J C Racing Stables’ four-year-old is by Que Niagra x Accentuate (Neon Wolf) has not finished worse than third in four starts this year. This was by far the biggest win of his career and brings his earnings to $207.600. Congratulations to Quality Road and D J C Racing Stables!
