Quarter King The One to Beat

The San Simeon Stakes – GIII
SA Race 5 6 1/2F – Turf
Purse $100.000
Three Year Olds and Up

A group of ten turf sprinters are ready to rumble for this years running of the San Simeon Stakes. It is a nice big field and there are some very talented runners in here for sure. It’ll be an exciting race I’m sure and a lot of these have a very good chance of winning if they run their race.

1. Quarter King (14-4-5-3 $432.600), trained by Gdp Inc

Last years Breeders Cup Turf Sprint runner up is the first runner that we come across and he is coming into this race off of a win against New York bred optional claimers. He won that day easily and is entering this race in good form. He is one of the ones to beat in here for sure.

2. Dreaming Of Pirates (5-2-0-0 $60.000), trained by Estero Farms

Well here is a three year old that is taking on the older rivals. This horse is entering the race off of an eighth place finish in the Pulpit Stakes at Gulfstream last year. He has been gelded since then and he hasn’t raced in a while but I’m not sure if he good enough to hang with this field.

3. Video Master (22-7-3-4 $247.140), trained by Patterson Stables

Right here is the oldest runner in the race. He is an old eight year old but he is still going strong as he comes into this race off of a win against optional claiming company right here down the hill. He is in good form it seems and I think he has a chance if he runs a big race.

4. Baie Baie (22-8-4-4 $220.290), trained by Spankys Barn

Next runner we come across right here is a stakes winner on the year actually. He won the Frontier Turf Sprint at Sam Houston earlier in the year and just ran fourth in a wide open allowance here over the downhill turf course. He has a decent chance if he runs a big race I think.

5. Sweet Grades (20-1-4-6 $112.570), trained by TwinTowers Racing

Well this horse right here is just a horse who cannot seem to find the winners circle at all. He usually hit the board and earns a little bit of money but he just doesn’t win for some reason. I think he is fast enough to win here but he will need to really run a big race to find the winners circle.

6. Toss The Anchor (12-2-2-2 $80.380), trained by Luz International

Scratched

7. Glowing Sunset (6-3-1-1 $161.100), trained by Waldo

Here is a graded stakes winning three year old who also participated in last years Breeders Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint where he ran a very bad twelfth. He came back in the CA Cup Turf Sprint in his last start and ran second by a nose over this same course so I think if he runs his race he will have a good chance.

8. Lampo Sul Mare (8-1-2-2 $66.120), trained by Sc Lanciano

A recent maiden winner right here over this same course and distance against Cal breds in his last start. I mean that field was no where near what he is going to face today and this is a big jump up in class for sure. He will need to run a huge race to even have a chance in here.

9. Looking At Life (3-1-1-0 $46.400), trained by La Canada Racehorses

Well this horse also just broke his maiden in his last start but he did best optional claiming company and not maidens. He ran a very good race that day but I hope that it didn’t take to much out of him because he is only coming off of two weeks rest. If he is rested enough he will have a good chance to win.

10. Corroya (15-4-4-2 $205.340), trained by D J C Racing Stables

Now here is a horse who is proven over this ground when he won the grade three Eddie D last year. He is coming into this race off of a seventh place finish in the grade two San Marcos so he is getting a little bit of class relief here. I think he has a chance if he runs a big race.

11. Anachronism (6-1-2-1 $35.430), trained by RNP Stables

And last but not least is this runner right here who is coming into this race off of a fourth place finish against allowance company routing on the dirt. He did run fourth in the CA Cup Turf Sprint the race before so he at least knows the surface. He could have a decent shot.

Summary

Well looking at this field I just cannot find a horse who I like over the rest of them except for the inside runner Quarter King. He is the class of the field and should win this race in my opinion. He has the most class and is the overall best horse I think so that who I am going to make my top pick.
