Real Good Deal Stakes Too Close to Call

Real Good Deal Stakes – $175.000 Ungraded

DMR – 7F Mile – Dirt

For Three Years Olds Foaled in CA

August 5, 2022

Dream Rummer looks for his second stakes win. He won the Winkfield (ungraded) in January and is the only stakes winner in this race. Since then, he has tried graded company and tried to stretch out but hit a brick wall in both attempts. He should like the distance and the state-bred competition better and could come away with a win. Bo Knows has never tried stakes level, but he is riding high on a three-race win streak since being gelded in January. This one is really too close to call.

Here’s the field:

#1 Bo Knows
Owner: Mb Stables

Riding a three-race winning streak, this one seems to have responded very well to gelding and/or shorter distances. First try in stakes company. Look for this gelding to come running at the end.

#2 White Sunshine
Owner: Smokey Stover

Stakes placed but has not made it to the winner’s circle at this level yet. His best performances came in a N1X at the FG in March and in optional claiming company last out. Another one that might favor the shorter distance and come away with part of the purse.

#3 Bo Buys An Island
Owner: Woogaloo

Another one coming in off a win, this colt likes to be close to or on the lead. And another one trying less ground. He should be in the mix early, but will he be there at the wire?

#4 Black Cloud
Owner: Angelos Stable
Winner in his last start in $16.000 claiming company. Making his stakes debut here and looks a bit outclassed. May contest the early lead, but he may have trouble holding on to the end.

#5 Gnome Guitar
Owner: Wood Duck Stables

Finished third in the Kellys Landing $160.000 at CD last out. Before that he won an optional claimer at GG and set a new track record to boot. Needs to bring his A game to win against these.

#6 Harry Toddler
Owner: Winning Link Stables

Not much to recommend this gelding. His only win came in his first start at FP. He is stakes placed in the Ross Mcleod $50.000 last out and the Hutcheson $100.000 in March. Blinkers go on for the first time. Will need a big effort and some racing luck.

 #7 Golden Authority
Owner: Asgar

Finished second in the Auburn $50.000 last out and has been strong in high-level allowances. Don’t count him out, but he’s another one that will need a big effort.

 #8 Dream Rummer
Owner: La Canada Racehorses

Only stakes winner in the field. Won the Winkfield $100.000 in open company at this same distance in January. Tried to stretch out in his last start, the Sir Barton $100.000 but could do no better than fifth. Working very well at 6F. Should like this distance better and a win wouldn’t be a surprise.

Picks: 8-1-5
