Battaglia Memorial Stakes [KYD]
1 1/16 Mile Dirt Stake Purse $100.000 Open 3 Year Olds.
1st Resident Fox Fractious Velazquez J R
It is a bit of a mystery as to how this horse started at 100/1. With just two previous runs and one maiden win over a sprint trip you couldn’t give it much chance on form but its 1.11 flat work and handy draw certainly said it was better than a 100/1 shot. Anyway the horse didn’t know its odds and the race engine ensured the sort of pace that a horse on pace can win from whatever its ability. Breaking fast was half the battle but then settling nicely just in behind the speed was the next one, with two boxes ticked it just came down to seeing out the trip which he did in good style. This one could be anything, a flash in the pan or the next KYD winner only his next race will truly tell us that.
2nd [Rename1605] Aer Stables Bridgmohan S X
Any runner from this stable is a threat in these TC points races and though this one couldn’t quite match the winner he did a good job of trying. Again getting all the early boxes ticked he was proven over the trip so it was no surprise to see him keep galloping on and taking second
3rd Last City Lemax Farms Jaramillo E
Close enough from the perfect draw to expect this race favorite to go and win this race. But they went slower for six furlongs than most horses work so when the speed was put on he just couldn’t quicken up. He kept on well and with a faster pace would have probably been the strongest at the end so i expect to see him having a nother go in the coming weeks.
4th Crack Stone Mb Stables Cedillo A
Ran pretty much his normal race but the slow pace and his mid-pack position gave him no real chance of finishing over the top of them. He kept on well enough to suggest the trainer will give him one more shot at the big time.
