1 Darken Times, trained by Threshold
This filly certainly seems to have ability but putting that ability into performances seems so far to have eluded her. The stables runners do not do well in this grade so I suspect this is a hopeful rather than confident entry.
2 Gallop Racer Queen, trained by Blushing Meadows
Another that has proved decent in overnights but has struggled in stakes class and doesn’t seem to have that ‘class’ gene which seems to be a key to success. She is game and gutsy though and with a good racing weight won’t be easy to knock over.
3 Geek Watch, trained by Nakamura Stables
A graded stakes winner and close up in a grade one this filly certainly does have the gene required to win a graded stake race. Back over the trip that saw her take the Durante Stakes at grade three I suspect she will win this turning cartwheels especially as the obviously skewed HRP handicapping system gives her only one pound over the bottom weight.
4 Eva The Diva, trained by Hawaiian Shirt Guy
A grade three winner over this trip she looks to be a dead cert for the first two but I just think the top weight may give Geek watch the edge. Mostly seen on dirt her first turf win came last time out in the Senorita Stakes but I am always a bit wary of form that comes from a change of surfaces.
5 Queen Elizabeta, trained by Mb Stables
The trifecta bet she is one that has promised a lot but has yet to really deliver since winning the grade three Jessamine last year. She went to the BC Juvenile and was only beaten two lengths so it’s clear she has ability. She certainly has chances especially with only 119 lbs I just worry that the mile may be a little sharp for her.
SUMMARY
The trifecta here of 3 4 and 5 looks to be one of the most obvious all season. I think it may finish in the order of the race card but you could give a winning chance to any of the three.
