1 Mucho Caviar, trained by Big Jd Racing
An on pace runner in her last 4 starts she wont be inconvenienced by this drop back in trip and has the rail draw to help her. Bought at auction fairly cheaply she has done well enough at allowance level to put her right in this race.
2 Bottom Line, trained by High Roller Racing
This first season trainer has bought wisely and picked up this one for a fair price. Highly tried in the past she has placed at grade three level and is working well enough to be a live chance today.
3 I Billieve, trained by Sharis Stables
Another who has placed in black type company she is also one of the few who may be racing at her best trip. Two good efforts in the lead up to this suggest she is on song but i do worry a bit about her battling qualities if its a close finish.
4 Squish, trained by M.b.o Racing Stable
A consistent sort of late she may find the piece of concrete that is down the middle of this track if she stays where she is drawn for the race. Another who may be suited by the seven furlongs she is working nicely and is right in a close looking race.
5 Sassy One, trained by D J C Racing Stables
With a five from eight record and on a four timer this is the filly with the most attractive form coming into the race. Her work on this track on the 14th was probably the best of the lot and the way she won the Hilltop Stakes last time i think she is still improving. Despite an awkward draw she may be the pick.
6 Spanish World, trained by Smokey Stover
Lightly raced this filly walked home in triple digit sped figures last time winning an allowance on this track very easily. That win was on a soft surface however so must be taken with a pinch of salt but her work times suggest she is more than a mudder so i wouldnt be too worried about that. The wide draw may be difficult to overcome but this track has been playing to the centre so she may get away with it.
SUMMARY
In my mind the best two horses are drawn widest which makes this a bit like a handicap race. If Sassy One can get a good midpack position i think she will win and if Spanish World doesnt get shot out by the wide gate speed push she may be second. Of the rest well its a close looking race for third and could well be a 4 way dead heat !!
